He has given freely to the poor, His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted in honor.

¶The afflictions of the righteous are many, But the Lord rescues him from them all.

They will not be ashamed in the time of evil, And in the days of famine they will have plenty.

All day long he is gracious and lends, And his descendants are a blessing.

One who despises his neighbor sins, But one who is gracious to the poor is blessed.

The fury of a king is like messengers of death; But a wise person will appease it.

One who is gracious to a poor person lends to the Lord, And He will repay him for his good deed.

Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years approach when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”;

But I will save you on that day,” declares the Lord, “and you will not be handed over to the men of whom you are afraid.

For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.

In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’  ”

They only asked us to remember the poor—the very thing I also was eager to do.

We urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having served and by still serving the saints.

For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth.

Her mother-in-law then said to her, “Where did you glean today and where did you work? May he who took notice of you be blessed.” So she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, and said, “The name of the man with whom I worked today is Boaz.”
