He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud; And He set my feet on a rock, making my footsteps firm.
The snares of death encompassed me And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.
Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any wrongdoing have power over me.
For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in dark places, like those who have long been dead.
My steps have held to Your paths. My feet have not slipped.
You enlarge my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped.
¶Then the earth shook and quaked; And the foundations of the mountains were trembling And were shaken, because He was angry.
For on the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; He will hide me in the secret place of His tent; He will lift me up on a rock.
¶The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way.
From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and a flood overflows me.
You who have shown me many troubles and distresses Will revive me again, And will bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
For Your graciousness toward me is great, And You have saved my soul from the depths of Sheol.
They will be gathered together Like prisoners in the dungeon, And will be confined in prison; And after many days they will be punished.
¶As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you, I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
and they will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
But God raised Him from the dead, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.
