and he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat: This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.

“Is your fear of God not your confidence, And the integrity of your ways your hope?

¶He will not fear bad news; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around.

¶Arise, Lord; save me, my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.

The righteous will see and fear, And they will laugh at him, saying,

and in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and this too, from God.

But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be in dread,

Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

When there was war again, David went out and fought the Philistines and defeated them with great slaughter, so that they fled from him.
