When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.

“Why do you persecute me as God does, And are not satisfied with my flesh?

“Have the people of my tent not said, ‘Who can find one who has not been satisfied with his meat’?

They surrounded me like bees; They were extinguished like a fire of thorn bushes; In the name of the Lord I will certainly fend them off.

¶Do all the workers of injustice not know, Who devour my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon the Lord?

¶The ropes of death encompassed me, And the torrents of destruction terrified me.

For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.

¶Arise, Lord; save me, my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have shattered the teeth of the wicked.

¶Have the workers of injustice no knowledge, Who eat up My people like they ate bread, And have not called upon God?

¶When my enemies turn back, They stumble and perish before You.

“Many will stumble over them, Then they will fall and be broken; They will be snared and caught.”
