The ropes of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me.
The snares of death encompassed me And the terrors of Sheol came upon me; I found distress and sorrow.
Then the waters would have flooded over us, The stream would have swept over our souls;
¶Answer me, Lord, for Your mercy is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me,
For Your graciousness toward me is great, And You have saved my soul from the depths of Sheol.
For indeed, a person does not know his time: like fish that are caught in a treacherous net and birds caught in a snare, so the sons of mankind are ensnared at an evil time when it suddenly falls on them.
But God raised Him from the dead, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.
