¶“If you would direct your heart rightly And spread out your hands to Him,

“As a slave pants for the shade, And as a hired worker who eagerly waits for his wages,

My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”

¶If we had forgotten the name of our God Or extended our hands to a strange god,

God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water.

My soul longed and even yearned for the courtyards of the Lord; My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

¶Will You perform wonders for the dead? Or will the departed spirits rise and praise You? Selah

My eye grows dim from misery; I have called upon You every day, Lord; I have spread out my hands to You.

Moses said to him, “As soon as I go out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the Lord; the thunder will cease and there will no longer be hail, so that you may know that the earth is the Lord’s.

The scorched land will become a pool And the thirsty ground springs of water; In the haunt of jackals, its resting place, Grass becomes reeds and rushes.

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
