“For I do not know how to flatter, Otherwise my Maker would quickly take me away.

I said in my alarm, “All people are liars.”

¶I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor.

They have closed their unfeeling hearts, With their mouths they speak proudly.

¶Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.

“The enemy said, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoils; I shall be satisfied against them; I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them.’

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

One who hates disguises it with his lips, But he harbors deceit in his heart.

“As my hand has reached to the kingdoms of the idols, Whose carved images were greater than those of Jerusalem and Samaria,

No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly. They trust in confusion and speak lies; They conceive trouble and give birth to disaster.

“For even your brothers and the household of your father, Even they have dealt treacherously with you, Even they have called aloud after you. Do not believe them, though they say nice things to you.”

“Their tongue is a deadly arrow; It speaks deceit; With his mouth one speaks peace to his neighbor, But inwardly he sets an ambush for him.

“Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre, ‘The Lord God says this: “Because your heart is haughty And you have said, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods In the heart of the seas’; Yet you are a mortal and not God, Although you make your heart like the heart of God—

‘Will you still say, “I am a god,” In the presence of one who kills you, Though you are a mortal and not God, In the hands of those who wound you?

Speak and say, ‘This is what the Lord God says: “Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, The great monster that lies in the midst of his canals, That has said, ‘My Nile is mine, and I myself have made it.’

And he will speak against the Most High and wear down the saints of the Highest One, and he will intend to make alterations in times and in law; and they will be handed over to him for a time, times, and half a time.

While I was thinking about the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the previous horns were plucked out before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like human eyes, and a mouth uttering great boasts.

“Your words have been arrogant against Me,” says the Lord. “Yet you say, ‘What have we spoken against You?’

For, while speaking out arrogant words of no value they entice by fleshly desires, by indecent behavior, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error,

These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

A mouth was given to him speaking arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him.

“Do not go on boasting so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the Lord is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed.
