When He keeps quiet, who can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can look at Him, That is, regarding both nation and a person?—

“Why then do You not forgive my wrongdoing And take away my guilt? For now I will lie down in the dust; And You will search for me, but I will no longer exist.”

You hide Your face, they are terrified; You take away their breath, they perish And return to their dust.

How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

¶Answer me quickly, Lord, my spirit fails; Do not hide Your face from me, Or I will be the same as those who go down to the pit.

Hear a just cause, Lord, give Your attention to my cry; Listen to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.

¶But You, Lord, do not be far away; You who are my help, hurry to my assistance.

Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, God of my salvation!

Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be a rock of strength for me, A stronghold to save me.

¶Be pleased, Lord, to rescue me; Hurry, Lord, to help me.

And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.

God, hurry to save me; Lord, hurry to help me!

In Your righteousness rescue me and save me; Extend Your ear to me and help me.

Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage ascended to God.

So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; while they are still speaking, I will listen.

And I will wait for the Lord who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob; I will wait eagerly for Him.

No temptation has overtaken you except something common to mankind; and God is faithful, so He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
