In the Lord I take refuge; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain?

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have committed detestable acts; There is no one who does good.

He does not lend his money at interest, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. One who does these things will never be shaken.

¶Now as for me, I said in my prosperity, “I will never be moved.”

Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of mankind among them are fully given to do evil.

“Yet you said, ‘I will be a queen forever.’ These things you did not consider Nor remember the outcome of them.

“Come,” they say, “let’s get wine, and let’s drink heavily of intoxicating drink; And tomorrow will be like today, only more so.”

Like tangled thorns, And like those who are drunken with their drink, They are consumed Like stubble completely dried up.

But if that evil slave says in his heart, ‘My master is not coming for a long time,’

While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction will come upon them like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

To the extent that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, to the same extent give her torment and mourning; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as a queen and I am not a widow, and will never see mourning.’
