“Why do You hide Your face And consider me Your enemy?

When He acts on the left, I cannot see Him; He turns to the right, but I cannot see Him.

When He keeps quiet, who can condemn? And when He hides His face, who then can look at Him, That is, regarding both nation and a person?—

My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my help are the words of my groaning.

Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, God of my salvation!

Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, I was dismayed.

Why do You hide Your face And forget our affliction and oppression?

For our souls have sunk down into the dust; Our bodies cling to the earth.

God is our refuge and strength, A very ready help in trouble.

Lord, why do You reject my soul? Why do You hide Your face from me?

“Hope of Israel, Its Savior in time of distress, Why are You like a stranger in the land, Or like a traveler who has pitched his tent for the night?

“Why are You like a confused person, Like a warrior who cannot save? Yet You are in our midst, Lord, And we are called by Your name; Do not leave us!”
