His speech was smoother than butter, But his heart was war; His words were softer than oil, Yet they were drawn swords.
To rescue you from the strange woman, From the foreign woman who flatters with her words,
The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; He who is cursed of the Lord will fall into it.
For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteress, And embrace the breasts of a foreigner?
To keep you from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the foreign woman.
With her many persuasions she entices him; With her flattering lips she seduces him.
So that they may keep you from an adulteress, From the foreigner who flatters with her words.
And I discovered as more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her.
“Your lips drip honey, my bride; Honey and milk are under your tongue, And the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.
