As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you will be buried at a good old age.

These are the years of the life of Ishmael, 137 years; and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people.

Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and satisfied with life; and he was gathered to his people.

Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters; and they came to draw water and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.

Then strip Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar. So Aaron will be gathered to his people and will die there.”

While Israel remained at Shittim, the people began to commit infidelity with the daughters of Moab.

Then behold, one of the sons of Israel came and brought to his relatives a Midianite woman, in the sight of Moses and in the sight of the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, while they were weeping at the entrance of the tent of meeting.

When you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, just as Aaron your brother was;

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

So Moses spoke to the people, saying, “Arm men from among you for the war, so that they may go against Midian to execute the Lord’s vengeance on Midian.

because these are days of punishment, so that all things which have been written will be fulfilled.

For David, after he had served God’s purpose in his own generation, fell asleep, and was buried among his fathers and underwent decay;

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

for it is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a servant of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.

‘Vengeance is Mine, and retribution; In due time their foot will slip. For the day of their disaster is near, And the impending things are hurrying to them.’

For I am going to die in this land; I am not crossing the Jordan, but you are going to cross, and you will take possession of this good land.

and that no one violate the rights and take advantage of his brother or sister in the matter, because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you previously and solemnly warned you.

For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”

Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her.”

because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great prostitute who was corrupting the earth with her sexual immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.”

and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who live on the earth?”

When the people saw him, they praised their god, for they said, “Our god has handed our enemy over to us, Even the destroyer of our country, Who has killed many of us.”

All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and another generation rose up after them who did not know the Lord, nor even the work which He had done for Israel.
