and they placed him in custody, because it had not been decided what should be done to him.
Now when Moses’ father-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, “What is this thing that you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit as judge and all the people stand before you from morning until evening?”
Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire of God.
Then they put him in custody, waiting for Moses to give them a clear decision in accordance with the command of the Lord.
And those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to all the congregation;
Moses then said to them, “Wait, and I will listen to what the Lord will command concerning you.”
