So Jacob named the place Peniel, for he said, “I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”

As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.

I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will express my riddle on the harp.

When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him with thunder.

“You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth.

So the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses returned to the camp, his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.

And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion to whom I will show compassion.”

Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”

So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to approach him.

To understand a proverb and a saying, The words of the wise and their riddles.

¶To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare with Him?

¶“To whom would you liken Me And make Me equal, and compare Me, That we would be alike?

“Son of man, ask a riddle and present a parable to the house of Israel,

Then I said, “Oh, Lord God! They are saying of me, ‘Is he not just speaking in riddles?’ ”

But by a prophet the Lord brought Israel up from Egypt, And by a prophet he was protected.

and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have heard that You, Lord, are in the midst of this people, because You, Lord, are seen eye to eye, while Your cloud stands over them; and You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.

Now when Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the atoning cover that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim; so He spoke to him.

This was so that what was spoken through the prophet would be fulfilled: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will proclaim things hidden since the foundation of the world.”

“The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; but the one who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

No one has seen God at any time; God the only Son, who is in the arms of the Father, He has explained Him.

No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well.

For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known.

But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

“The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen; to him you shall listen.

Since that time no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

“So be very careful yourselves, since you did not see any form on the day the Lord spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire,

‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation:

Therefore, the one who rejects this is not rejecting man, but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.

who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,

And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt passion, and despise authority. Reckless, self-centered, they speak abusively of angelic majesties without trembling,

Yet in the same way these people also, dreaming, defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak abusively of angelic majesties.
