While the meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the anger of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very severe plague.
Though he desires it and will not let it go, But holds it in his mouth,
“When he fills his belly, God will send His fierce anger on him And rain it on him while he is eating.
He made the east wind blow in the sky And by His power He directed the south wind.
So they ate and were well filled, And He satisfied their longing.
But those who died by the plague were 14,700 in number, besides those who died on account of Korah.
Moses did so; just as the Lord had commanded him, so he did.
But those who died from the plague were twenty-four thousand in number.
“The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, the festering rash, and with scabies, from which you cannot be healed.
