So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You been so hard on Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have put the burden of all this people on me?

“I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me; Let me know why You contend with me.

If You, Lord, were to keep account of guilty deeds, Lord, who could stand?

And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For no person living is righteous in Your sight.

So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “What am I to do with this people? A little more and they will stone me!”

Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me?

¶Woe to me, my mother, that you have given birth to me As a man of strife and a man of contention to all the land! I have not lent, nor have people lent money to me, Yet everyone curses me.

Why has my pain been endless And my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will You indeed be to me like a deceptive stream With water that is unreliable?

You have said, ‘It is pointless to serve God; and what benefit is it for us that we have done what He required, and that we have walked in mourning before the Lord of armies?

Now Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, each one at the entrance of his tent; and the anger of the Lord became very hot, and Moses was displeased.

So if You are going to deal with me this way, please kill me now, if I have found favor in Your sight, and do not let me see my misery.”

Apart from such external things, there is the daily pressure on me of concern for all the churches.

How can I alone endure the burden and weight of you and your strife?
