¶Do all the workers of injustice not know, Who devour my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon the Lord?

When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell.

There is a kind of person whose teeth are like swords And his jaw teeth like knives, To devour the poor from the earth And the needy from among mankind.

The Lord enters into judgment with the elders and leaders of His people, “It is you who have devoured the vineyard; The goods stolen from the poor are in your houses.

“What do you mean by crushing My people And oppressing the face of the poor?” Declares the Lord God of armies.

who say, ‘The time is not near to build houses. This city is the pot and we are the meat.’

Put in it the pieces of meat, Every good piece, the thigh and the shoulder; Fill it with choice bones.

Hear this, you who trample the needy, to put an end to the humble of the land,

“Recently My people have arisen as an enemy— You strip the robe off the garment From unsuspecting passers-by, From those returned from war.

Her leaders within her are roaring lions, Her judges are wolves at evening; They have no bones to gnaw in the morning.
