To do righteousness and justice Is preferred by the Lord more than sacrifice.

For I desire loyalty rather than sacrifice, And the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.

But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions—

Or have you not read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the Sabbath, and yet are innocent?

But if you had known what this means: ‘I desire compassion, rather than sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.

And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female,

Jesus *said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘A stone which the builders rejected, This has become the chief cornerstone; This came about from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes’?

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance;

From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

But regarding the fact that the dead rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?

and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

And He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How does it read to you?”

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

And Jesus answered and said to them, “It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.

I have not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners.”

Jesus answered them, “Has it not been written in your Law: ‘I said, you are gods’?

When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has also granted to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life.”

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

He is the One whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.
