When he was in distress, he appeased the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

Praise the Lord! Blessed is a person who fears the Lord, Who greatly delights in His commandments.

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God,

Kiss the Son, that He not be angry and you perish on the way, For His wrath may be kindled quickly. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Blessed is one who considers the helpless; The Lord will save him on a day of trouble.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, God, You will not despise.

Lord of armies, Blessed is the person who trusts in You!

It is better to be humble in spirit with the needy Than to divide the spoils with the proud.

A person’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.

¶“Now then, sons, listen to me, For blessed are those who keep my ways.

¶Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him.

For this is what the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, says: “I dwell in a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord anointed me To bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners;

“For My hand made all these things, So all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But I will look to this one, At one who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who trembles at My word.

He has told you, mortal one, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to infants.

And blessed is any person who does not take offense at Me.”

But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

But Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes.

“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven;

But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Allow the children to come to Me; do not forbid them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and follow it.”

I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other one; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

and just as My Father has granted Me a kingdom, I grant you

that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed,

Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you now believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

And you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, in order to humble you, putting you to the test, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

but the rich person is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.

Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters: did God not choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?

Then he *said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.’ ” And he *said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life, and may enter the city by the gates.

Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have no need of anything,” and you do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked,
