but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, until there was no remedy.

But Jeremiah said, “A lie! I am not deserting to the Chaldeans”; yet he would not listen to him. So Irijah arrested Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.

For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every person according to his deeds.

“Now whenever you fast, do not make a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they distort their faces so that they will be noticed by people when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all people,

For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better and lasting possession.

considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.

who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions,

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.

Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials,

As an example, brothers and sisters, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that at the revelation of His glory you may also rejoice and be overjoyed.

May the Lord reward your work, and may your wages be full from the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
