When the sons of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “It is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.

And the sons of Israel ate the manna for forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate the manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.

And Moses said, “This will happen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and bread to the full in the morning; for the Lord hears your grumblings which you grumble against Him. And what are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the Lord.”

You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in that month you came out of Egypt. And no one is to appear before Me empty-handed.

It is not what enters the mouth that defiles the person, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles the person.”

Then Jesus *said to him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’ ”

Jesus said to him, “On the other hand, it is written: ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”

And He was saying, “That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person.

And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been stated, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”

And Jesus answered him, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’ ”

Jesus replied to him, “It is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’ ”

“When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, namely, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, He will testify about Me,

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh provides no benefit; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life.

For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And He humbled you and let you go hungry, and fed you with the manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, in order to make you understand that man shall not live on bread alone, but man shall live on everything that comes out of the mouth of the Lord.
