And they said to him, “He was a hairy man with a leather belt worn around his waist.” And he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”

at that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, “Go and loosen the sackcloth from your hips and take your sandals off your feet.” And he did so, going naked and barefoot.

These of them you may eat: the locust in its kinds, the devastating locust in its kinds, the cricket in its kinds, and the grasshopper in its kinds.

Also it will come about on that day that the prophets will each be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies, and they will not put on a hairy robe in order to deceive;

“Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord.

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’

But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ palaces!

John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, and his diet was locusts and wild honey.

And it is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers back to their children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

“He had him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And He had him suck honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock,

And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.”
