But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he *allowed Him.
The Lord was pleased for His righteousness’ sake To make the Law great and glorious.
But John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I have the need to be baptized by You, and yet You are coming to me?”
They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord.
For I gave you an example, so that you also would do just as I did for you.
If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.
Jesus *said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work.
And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.”
For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens;
the one who says that he remains in Him ought, himself also, to walk just as He walked.
