So they approached Joseph’s house steward, and spoke to him at the entrance of the house,

‘You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired worker are not to remain with you all night until morning.

They *said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He *said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’

When those hired about the eleventh hour came, each one received a denarius.

“Now after a long time the master of those slaves *came and *settled accounts with them.

“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.

Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they provide; for the laborer is deserving of his wages. Do not move from house to house.

And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and sensible steward, whom his master will put in charge of his servants, to give them their rations at the proper time?

and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive compensation for his deeds done through the body, in accordance with what he has done, whether good or bad.

You shall give him his wages on his day before the sun sets—for he is poor and sets his heart on it—so that he does not cry out against you to the Lord, and it becomes a sin in you.

For the overseer must be beyond reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not overindulging in wine, not a bully, not greedy for money,

so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.

As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the multifaceted grace of God.

And the servant in charge of the reapers replied, “She is the young Moabite woman who returned with Naomi from the land of Moab.
