Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and among his own relatives, and in his own household.”

Therefore this is what the Lord says concerning the people of Anathoth, who are seeking your life, saying: “Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, so that you do not die by our hand”;

“For even your brothers and the household of your father, Even they have dealt treacherously with you, Even they have called aloud after you. Do not believe them, though they say nice things to you.”

And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and in his own household.”

Jesus went out from there and *came into His hometown; and His disciples *followed Him.

But He said, “Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his hometown.

For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
