¶“Come now, and let us debate your case,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, They shall become as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool.

Let the wicked abandon his way, And the unrighteous person his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

¶“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?

“See that you do not look down on one of these little ones; for I say to you that their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

But he answered and said to his father, ‘Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours; and yet you never gave me a young goat, so that I might celebrate with my friends;

I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.

And He said to them, “You are the ones who justify yourselves in the sight of people, but God knows your hearts; because that which is highly esteemed among people is detestable in the sight of God.

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

They answered him, “You were born entirely in sins, and yet you are teaching us?” So they put him out.

Those who were with Him from the Pharisees heard these things and said to Him, “We are not blind too, are we?”

solemnly testifying to both Jews and Greeks of repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

but continually proclaimed to those in Damascus first, and in Jerusalem, and then all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they are to repent and turn to God, performing deeds consistent with repentance.

who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, eager for good deeds.
