For we will surely die and are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up. Yet God does not take away life, but makes plans so that the banished one will not be cast out from Him.

¶He will not fear bad news; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

If an army encamps against me, My heart will not fear; If war arises against me, In spite of this I am confident.

Do not be afraid of sudden danger, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;

“You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’ Regarding everything that this people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it.

“Now, so that your heart does not grow faint, And you are not afraid at the report that will be heard in the land— For the report will come in one year, And after that another report in another year, And violence will be in the land With ruler against ruler—

“Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to the person through whom the stumbling block comes!

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He!’ and they will mislead many.

For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are only the beginning of birth pains.

“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.

Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.
