John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, and his diet was locusts and wild honey.

These things took place in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing people.

Now John also was baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there; and people were coming and being baptized—

He was the lamp that was burning and shining, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

Also many of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices.

Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much.

Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, I implore you, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, and give praise to Him; and tell me now what you have done. Do not hide it from me.”
