It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the entire land until the ninth hour,

He sent darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His words.

“The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.

¶Woe to you who are longing for the day of the Lord, For what purpose will the day of the Lord be to you? It will be darkness and not light;

“And it will come about on that day,” declares the Lord God, “That I will make the sun go down at noon, And make the earth dark in broad daylight.

Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.

Also the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;

And when the centurion, who was standing right in front of Him, saw that He died in this way, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”

Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he *said to the Jews, “Look, your King!”
