For Your graciousness toward me is great, And You have saved my soul from the depths of Sheol.

¶The wicked will return to Sheol, All the nations who forget God.

The path of life leads upward for the wise, So that he may keep away from Sheol below.

Her feet go down to death, Her steps take hold of Sheol.

Her house is the way to Sheol, Descending to the chambers of death.

But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

“Nevertheless you will be brought down to Sheol, To the recesses of the pit.

“Sheol below is excited about you, to meet you when you come; It stirs the spirits of the dead for you, all the leaders of the earth; It raises all the kings of the nations from their thrones.

And you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will be brought down to Hades! For if the miracles that occurred in you had occurred in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

And if your eye is causing you to sin, tear it out and throw it away from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fiery hell.

You snakes, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell?

But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be answerable to the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be answerable to the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.

Now if your right eye is causing you to sin, tear it out and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

And they cried out, saying, “What business do You have with us, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”

And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’

for I have five brothers—in order that he may warn them, so that they will not come to this place of torment as well.’

And seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, and said with a loud voice, “What business do You have with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!”

Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?”

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, held for judgment;

And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
