Now the king appointed the royal officer on whose hand he leaned to be in charge of the gate; but the people trampled on him at the gate, and he died, just as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.

That the rejoicing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless momentary?

“For what is the hope of the godless when he makes an end of life, When God requires his life?

“But the godless in heart nurture anger; They do not call for help when He binds them.

Sinners in Zion are terrified; Trembling has seized the godless. “Who among us can live with the consuming fire? Who among us can live with everlasting burning?”

Woe to you! For you are like unseen tombs, and the people who walk over them are unaware of it.”

You hypocrites! You know how to analyze the appearance of the earth and the sky, but how is it that you do not know how to analyze this present time?

Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;

But the news about Him was spreading even farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses.

And then Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place; and there was a large crowd of His disciples, and a great multitude of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon,

And when they heard about them, they began glorifying God; and they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the Law;

For I handed down to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels,

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy.

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,
