As for me, I said in my alarm, “I am cut off from Your eyes”; Nevertheless You heard the sound of my pleadings When I called to You for help.

So I say, “My strength has failed, And so has my hope from the Lord.”

Even when I cry out and call for help, He shuts out my prayer.

Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Now which one of you fathers will his son ask for a fish, and instead of a fish, he will give him a snake?

“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not become discouraged,

You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures.

We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.
