Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, and captured the royal city.

but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.

It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

And they said to Joshua, “The Lord has indeed handed over to us all the land; furthermore, all the inhabitants of the land have despaired because of us.”

So they answered Joshua and said, “Since your servants were fully informed that the Lord your God had commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land before you, we feared greatly for our lives because of you, and did this thing.

The inhabitants of Gibeon also heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai,

Then David said to Achish, “If now I have found favor in your sight, have them give me a place in one of the cities in the country, so that I may live there; for why should your servant live in the royal city with you?”
