Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of armies.

Then He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground.

So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him, And that He would hear the cry of the afflicted—

“As a slave pants for the shade, And as a hired worker who eagerly waits for his wages,

For He who requires blood remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the needy.

for that is his only covering; it is his cloak for his body. What else is he to sleep in? And it will come about that when he cries out to Me, I will listen to him, for I am gracious.

And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.

If the Lord of armies Had not left us a few survivors, We would be like Sodom, We would be like Gomorrah.

¶For the vineyard of the Lord of armies is the house of Israel, And the people of Judah are His delightful plant. So He waited for justice, but behold, there was bloodshed; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help.

In my ears the Lord of armies has sworn, “Many houses shall certainly become desolate, Even great and fine ones, without occupants.

¶“Woe to him who builds his house without righteousness, And his upstairs rooms without justice, Who uses his neighbor’s services without pay And does not give him his wages,

‘You shall not oppress your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of a hired worker are not to remain with you all night until morning.

“For the stone will cry out from the wall, And the rafter will answer it from the framework.

“Then I will come near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, those who oppress the wage earner in his wages or the widow or the orphan, and those who turn away the stranger from justice and do not fear Me,” says the Lord of armies.

Then He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

now, will God not bring about justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night, and will He delay long for them?

And just as Isaiah foretold: “If the Lord of armies had not left us descendants, We would have become like Sodom, and would have been like Gomorrah.”

Be careful that there is no mean-spirited thought in your heart, such as, ‘The seventh year, the year of release of debts, is near,’ and your eye is malicious toward your poor brother, and you give him nothing; then he may cry out to the Lord against you, and it will be a sin in you.

Masters, grant your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.
