Was our father Abraham not justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar?

And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For no person living is righteous in Your sight.

“Look to Abraham your father And to Sarah who gave birth to you in pain; When he was only one I called him, Then I blessed him and multiplied him.”

For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

and do not assume that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you that God is able, from these stones, to raise up children for Abraham.

The oath which He swore to our father Abraham,

And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus, so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’

But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’

They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus *said to them, “If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham.

You are not greater than our father Abraham, who died, are You? The prophets died too. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?”

And Stephen said, “Listen to me, brothers and fathers! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran,

because by the works of the Law none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes knowledge of sin.

What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found?

and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also follow in the steps of the faith of our father Abraham which he had while uncircumcised.

For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and the one who had received the promises was offering up his only son;

But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Then I took your father Abraham from beyond the Euphrates River and led him through all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his descendants and gave him Isaac.
