Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of mankind was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually.

Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked sinners against the Lord.

The Lord smelled the soothing aroma, and the Lord said to Himself, “I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.

How much less one who is detestable and corrupt: A person who drinks malice like water!

“Will you keep to the ancient path Which wicked people have walked,

God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of mankind To see if there is anyone who understands, Who seeks after God.

A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,

Behold, I have found only this, that God made people upright, but they have sought out many schemes.”

This is an evil in everything that is done under the sun, that there is one fate for everyone. Furthermore, the hearts of the sons of mankind are full of evil, and insanity is in their hearts throughout their lives. Afterward they go to the dead.

¶“The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?

¶Wash your heart from evil, Jerusalem, So that you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts Lodge within you?

Then He said to me, “Do you see, son of man, what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each man in the rooms of his carved images? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us; the Lord has abandoned the land.’ ”

Then He said to me, “Go in and see the wicked abominations that they are committing here.”

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, acts of adultery, other immoral sexual acts, thefts, false testimonies, and slanderous statements.

For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.

And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man:

And it shall be when he hears the words of this curse, that he will consider himself fortunate in his heart, saying, ‘I will do well though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart in order to destroy the watered land along with the dry.’

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

who once were disobedient when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.
