Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is too great to endure!

Behold, You have driven me this day from the face of the ground; and I will be hidden from Your face, and I will be a wanderer and a drifter on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

And a fruitful land into a salt waste, Because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

May his children wander about and beg; And may they seek sustenance far from their ruined homes.

A person who is burdened with the guilt of human blood Will be a fugitive until death; no one is to support him!

My God will reject them Because they have not listened to Him; And they will be wanderers among the nations.

The field is ruined, The land mourns; For the grain is ruined, The new wine has dried up, Fresh oil has failed.

And I will set My face against you so that you will be defeated before your enemies; and those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee when no one is pursuing you.

Your strength will be consumed uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit.

As for those among you who are left, I will also bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a scattered leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope

“But it shall come about, if you do not obey the Lord your God, to be careful to follow all His commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:
