Save me, please, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, that he will come and attack me and the mothers with the children.

So Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him; and Esau said to himself, “The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”

Now when the words of her elder son Esau were reported to Rebekah, she sent word and called her younger son Jacob, and said to him, “Behold your brother Esau is consoling himself concerning you by planning to kill you.

Then David the king came in and sat before the Lord, and he said, “Who am I, Lord God, and who are the members of my household, that You have brought me this far?

Redeem me from oppression by man, So that I may keep Your precepts.

“Give Your attention to my cry, For I have been brought very low; Rescue me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.

Protect me, God, for I take refuge in You.

Guard my soul and save me; Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.

Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be a rock of strength for me, A stronghold to save me.

Vindicate me, God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation; Save me from the deceitful and unjust person!

A brother who is offended is harder to be won than a strong city, And quarrels are like the bars of a citadel.

If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will rescue us from your hand, O king.

An uproar will arise among your people, And all your fortresses will be destroyed, As Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle, When mothers were slaughtered with their children.

‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. ’

“If you happen to come upon a bird’s nest along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs in it, and the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young;

They cried out to the Lord and said, ‘We have sinned, because we have abandoned the Lord and have served the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but now save us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’

May the Lord therefore be judge and decide between you and me; and may He see and plead my cause and save me from your hand.”
