Genesis 32:10

I am unworthy of all the favor and of all the faithfulness, which You have shown to Your servant; for with only my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two companies.

And Abraham replied, “Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord, although I am only dust and ashes.

And he said, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show kindness to my master Abraham.

And he said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned His kindness and His trustworthiness toward my master; as for me, the Lord has guided me in the way to the house of my master’s brothers.”

Then behold, the Lord was standing above it and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your descendants.

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

So the man became exceedingly prosperous, and had large flocks, and female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.

Then the Lord said to Jacob, “Return to the land of your fathers and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

and I have oxen, donkeys, flocks, and male and female servants; and I have sent messengers to tell my lord, so that I may find favor in your sight.” ’ ”

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, the herds, and the camels, into two companies;

Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom crossed the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

Then David the king came in and sat before the Lord, and he said, “Who am I, Lord God, and who are the members of my household, that You have brought me this far?

“Nevertheless the righteous will hold to his way, And the one who has clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.

“Though your beginning was insignificant, Yet your end will increase greatly.

I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides You.”

You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand upholds me; And Your gentleness makes me great.

He will sit enthroned before God forever; Appoint faithfulness and truth that they may watch over him.

Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty!

They go from strength to strength, Every one of them appears before God in Zion.

Graciousness and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.

Then I said, “Woe to me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of armies.”

¶I will make mention of the mercies of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, According to all that the Lord has granted us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has granted them according to His compassion And according to the abundance of His mercies.

You will give truth to Jacob And favor to Abraham, Which You swore to our forefathers From the days of old.

So you too, when you do all the things which were commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy slaves; we have done only that which we ought to have done.’ ”

But when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”

I have become foolish; you yourselves compelled me. Actually I should have been commended by you, since I was in no respect inferior to the most eminent apostles, even though I am a nobody.

But you are to remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, in order to confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God is opposed to the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.
