Then Isaac dug again the wells of water which had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham; and he gave them the same names which his father had given them.

But Abraham complained to Abimelech because of the well of water which the servants of Abimelech had seized.

He said, “You shall take these seven ewe lambs from my hand so that it may be a witness for me, that I dug this well.”

Therefore he called that place Beersheba, because there the two of them took an oath.

So Isaac departed from there and camped in the Valley of Gerar, and settled there.

But when Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found there a well of flowing water,

He also built towers in the wilderness and carved out many cisterns, for he had much livestock, both in the lowland and in the plain. He also had plowmen and vinedressers in the hill country and the fertile fields, for he loved the soil.

The pains of those who have acquired another god will be multiplied; I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, Nor will I take their names upon my lips.

“For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, So that they will no longer be mentioned by their names.

“And it will come about on that day,” declares the Lord of armies, “that I will eliminate the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land.

Nebo, and Baal-meon—their names being changed—and Sibmah, and they gave other names to the cities which they built.
