From these the people of the coastlands of the nations were separated into their lands, every one according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.

These are the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, and by their nations.

Two sons were born to Eber; the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.

These are the families of the sons of Noah, according to their descendants, by their nations; and out of these the nations were separated on the earth after the flood.

The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.

These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole earth was populated.

Now King Ahasuerus imposed a tax on the land and the coastlands of the sea.

May the kings of Tarshish and of the islands bring gifts; May the kings of Sheba and Seba offer tributes.

¶Then it will happen on that day that the Lord Will again recover with His hand the second time The remnant of His people who will remain, From Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath, And from the islands of the sea.

Therefore glorify the Lord in the east, The name of the Lord, the God of Israel, In the coastlands of the sea.

Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, And are regarded as a speck of dust on the scales; Behold, He lifts up the islands like fine dust.

¶The coastlands have seen and are afraid; The ends of the earth tremble; They have approached and have come.

¶Sing to the Lord a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the earth! You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it; You islands, and those who live on them.

“He will not be disheartened or crushed Until He has established justice on the earth; And the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law.”

Listen to Me, you islands, And pay attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother He named Me.

“My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait for Me, And they will wait expectantly for My arm.

According to their deeds, so will He repay: Wrath to His adversaries, retribution to His enemies; To the coastlands He will deal retribution.

“Certainly the coastlands will wait for Me; And the ships of Tarshish will come first, To bring your sons from afar, Their silver and their gold with them, For the name of the Lord your God, And for the Holy One of Israel because He has glorified you.

“For cross to the coastlands of Kittim and see, And send to Kedar and observe closely, And see if there has been anything like this!

and to all the kings of Tyre, all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are beyond the sea;

The Lord God says this to Tyre: “Will the coastlands not shake from the sound of your downfall when the wounded groan, when the slaughter takes place in your midst?

‘Now the coastlands will tremble On the day of your downfall; Yes, the coastlands which are by the sea Will be horrified at your passing.’ ”

Then he will turn his face to the coastlands and capture many. But a commander will put a stop to his taunting against him; moreover, he will repay him for his taunting.

The Lord will be terrifying to them, for He will starve all the gods of the earth; and all the coastlands of the nations will bow down to Him, everyone from his own place.

“When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, When He separated the sons of mankind, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the sons of Israel.
