He sent out His arrows, and scattered them, And lightning flashes in abundance, and routed them.

Panic seized them there, Anguish, as that of a woman in childbirth.

‘Ask now, and see If a male can give birth. Why do I see every man With his hands on his waist, as a woman in childbirth? And why have all faces turned pale?

We have heard the report of it; Our hands are limp. Anguish has seized us, Pain like that of a woman in childbirth.

So I was left alone and saw this great vision; yet no strength was left in me, for my complexion turned to a deathly pallor, and I retained no strength.

Now in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; and his spirit was troubled and his sleep left him.

Then the king’s face became pale and his thoughts alarmed him, and his hip joints loosened and his knees began knocking together.

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.

Then the kings of the earth and the eminent people, and the commanders and the wealthy and the strong, and every slave and free person hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;
