Now David spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day that the Lord had saved him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

“For by You I can run at a troop of warriors; By my God I can leap over a wall.

“Then I pulverized them as the dust of the earth; I crushed and trampled them like the mud of the streets.

Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse declares, The man who was raised on high, The anointed of the God of Jacob And the sweet psalmist of Israel, declares,

David became greater and greater, for the Lord God of armies was with him.

So David made a name for himself when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Arameans in the Valley of Salt.

He also put garrisons in Edom. In all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

Then David put garrisons among the Arameans of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the Lord helped David wherever he went.

I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have eliminated all your enemies from you; and I will make for you a name like the name of the great ones who are on the earth.

For You make him most blessed forever; You make him joyful with the joy of Your presence.

“But I will crush his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him.

“He has brought down rulers from their thrones, And has exalted those who were humble.

So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame was in all the land.

David was successful in all his ways, for the Lord was with him.

Then the commanders of the Philistines went to battle, and it happened as often as they went out, that David was more successful than all the servants of Saul. So his name was held in high esteem.

“He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the garbage heap To seat them with nobles, And He gives them a seat of honor as an inheritance; For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, And He set the world on them.

So Saul died with his three sons, his armor bearer, and all his men on that day together.

So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And as the ark of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people!”
