“Because of the devastation of the poor, because of the groaning of the needy, Now I will arise,” says the Lord; “I will put him in the safety for which he longs.”

Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes arrogant; Nor do I involve myself in great matters, Or in things too difficult for me.

For the Lord is exalted, Yet He looks after the lowly, But He knows the haughty from afar.

¶I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they may serve Me.

Now I know that the Lord is greater than all the gods; indeed, it was proven when they acted insolently against the people.”

Haughty eyes and a proud heart, The lamp of the wicked, is sin.

And the pride of humanity will be humbled And the arrogance of people will be brought low; And the Lord alone will be exalted on that day,

“Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice And haughtily raised your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!

So the common people will be humbled and the person of importance brought low, The eyes of the haughty also will be brought low.

In all their distress He was distressed, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just; and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.”

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
