Now David spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day that the Lord had saved him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

Nathan then said to David, “You yourself are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: ‘It is I who anointed you as king over Israel, and it is I who rescued you from the hand of Saul.

Who also brings me out from my enemies; You also raise me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent person.

Then on that day David first assigned Asaph and his relatives to give thanks to the Lord.

¶The afflictions of the righteous are many, But the Lord rescues him from them all.

Then Moses spoke in the hearing of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were complete:

The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Then Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam sang on that day, saying,

David stayed in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul searched for him every day, but God did not hand him over to him.

May the Lord therefore be judge and decide between you and me; and may He see and plead my cause and save me from your hand.”

Should anyone rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, then the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living with the Lord your God; but the lives of your enemies He will sling out as from the hollow of a sling.

Therefore behold, just as your life was highly valued in my sight this day, so may my life be highly valued in the sight of the Lord, and may He rescue me from all distress.”

Then David said to himself, “Now I will perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than to safely escape into the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will despair of searching for me anymore in all the territory of Israel, and I will escape from his hand.”
