Then David said to Abishai and to all his servants, “Behold, my son who came out of my own body seeks my life; how much more now this Benjaminite? Leave him alone and let him curse, for the Lord has told him.

Then behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”

Now do not be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me ahead of you to save lives.

They will curse, but You bless; When they arise, they will be ashamed, But Your servant will be glad.

“But if the prophet is persuaded so that he speaks a word, it is I, the Lord, who have persuaded that prophet; and I will stretch out My hand against him and eliminate him from among My people Israel.

I also gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances by which they could not live;

“Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.

Now then, please let my lord the king listen to the words of his servant. If the Lord has incited you against me, may He accept an offering; but if it is people, cursed are they before the Lord, because they have driven me out today so that I would have no share in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, ‘Go, serve other gods.’
