Simon Peter, a bond-servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:

Simeon has described how God first concerned Himself about taking a people for His name from among the Gentiles.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: “But the righteous one will live by faith.”

And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors and teachers,

one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Paul and Timothy, bond-servants of Christ Jesus, To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, including the overseers and deacons:

For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer on His behalf,

and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,

Therefore, I urge elders among you, as your fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and one who is also a fellow partaker of the glory that is to be revealed:

Through these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world on account of lust.
