And he said, “This will be the practice of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and put them in his chariots for himself and among his horsemen, and they will run before his chariots.

Now it came about after this that Absalom provided for himself a chariot and horses, and fifty men to run ahead of him.

Now the war against the Philistines was severe all the days of Saul; and when Saul saw any warrior or any valiant man, he attached him to his staff.

Saul said to his servants who were standing in front of him, “Hear now, you Benjaminites! Will the son of Jesse really give all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds?

Now then, listen to their voice; however, you shall warn them strongly and tell them of the practice of the king who will reign over them.”
