“But if they do not listen, they will perish by the sword, And die without knowledge.

But if you refuse and rebel, You will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Woe to the wicked! It will go badly for him, For what he deserves will be done to him.

¶Certainly now they will say, “We have no king, For we do not revere the Lord. As for the king, what can he do for us?”

The Lord will bring you and your king, whom you appoint over you, to a nation that neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods, made of wood and stone.

And it shall come about, if you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and serve and worship them, I testify against you today that you will certainly perish.

When you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which He commanded you, and you go and serve other gods and bow down to them, then the anger of the Lord will burn against you, and you will perish quickly from the good land which He has given you.”

If you abandon the Lord and serve foreign gods, then He will turn and do you harm and destroy you after He has done good to you.”

Saul was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for forty-two years over Israel.
