“He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share its joy.

¶“What shall I say? For He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done it; I will walk quietly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul.

“For the Lord has called you, Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, Even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,” Says your God.

But if you do not listen to it, My soul will weep in secret for such pride; And my eyes will shed And stream down tears, Because the flock of the Lord has been taken captive.

¶Do not weep for the dead or mourn for him, But weep deeply for the one who goes away; For he will never return Or see his native land.

He has filled me with bitterness, He has made me drink plenty of wormwood.

And being in agony, He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground].

In the days of His humanity, He offered up both prayers and pleas with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His devout behavior.

So the people came to Bethel and sat there before God until evening, and raised their voices and wept profusely.

But she said to them, “Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.

And she made a vow and said, “Lord of armies, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your bond-servant and remember me, and not forget Your bond-servant, but will give Your bond-servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and a razor shall never come on his head.”

Then Hannah got up after eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the temple of the Lord.
